Vintage Turkish Kilim Rugs are heritage of the Turkish hand crafts. They are rarely hand knotted now. Kilim Rugs had been produced by nomads and villagers for their home and tent decoration. Because of this, they are strong and could keep their quality years long. Depending in regions, Kilim Rugs may bear various patterns such as; hands on the hip, goat horn, diamond, checkered, scorpion, spike etc. All these tell a story of the weaver. They are generally made from wool and sometimes a little bit of goat hair. Depending on size and patterns, It takes 2 to 3 months for a girl to weave medium size kilim rug. Vintage Kilim Rugs are highly recommended for houses, apartments, offices and shops for decorative reasons. They are lighter than carpets and easy to clean. They weigh less and with some types, they are both sided. Either side of the kilim can be used. Dry cleaning is highly recommended for to keep the rug longer.
